PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
